One day a week, say Friday afternoon, an hour on a mosque veranda, in a schoolroom or a library: a grown-up reads a story aloud, then the children take turns reading.
It builds the habit of a book in hand, away from the phone, and gives courage to children who are behind in reading. It needs a few picture books, a mat, and one reader each week. Start with the school’s or mosque committee’s permission.
