In the monsoon a great deal of water runs off the roofs, while in the dry season many places run short.
The idea: lead the water from a roof or tin roof through a pipe into a clean, covered tank or drum. The first few minutes of rain wash down the roof’s dust and dirt, so let that run off, then collect. Keep the roof and pipe clean.
The water serves for washing clothes, bathing, plants and cleaning; to drink it, boil it or treat it safely first. Keep the tank covered at all times so mosquitoes cannot breed. For advice, ask at the upazila public health engineering office.
