Wheelchair ramps at mosques, schools and shops
Abir · 13 October 2026
Two or three steps are enough to stop a wheelchair user, an older person with a stick, or a mother pushing a pram.
The idea: talk to the owners and committees of the neighbourhood mosque, school, clinic or a big shop, and build a ramp at the entrance with a handrail beside it. The slope must not be steep and the surface must not be slippery; ask a mason or engineer about the design.
Before starting, ask the disabled people of the neighbourhood themselves where they have the most trouble.
