Planting a tree is easy; keeping it alive is hard. Many saplings die within months, from lack of water or goats.
The idea: with the school’s permission, each pupil plants a sapling on or near the school grounds, puts up a tag with their name, and looks after it: water in the dry season, a fence around it. Choose native fruit and shade trees.
When the pupil leaves school, they hand their tree over to a younger pupil.
