Listing broken street lights and reporting them

Abir · 13 October 2026

When a street light fails, the lane goes dark: women and children fear to walk there, and the risk of mugging and accidents grows. Lights often stay broken for months because nobody reports them. The idea: once a month, a few people of the neighbourhood walk round in the evening, note which poles have no light, and write down the pole number, if it has one, and the place. Hand the list to the municipality, city corporation or union council, and check the next month whether it was fixed. Never climb a power pole or touch the wires yourself.
