A neighbourhood agreement on loudspeaker hours at events
Abir · 13 October 2026
When music blares until late at night at a wedding, birthday or other event, the children, patients and exam candidates next door lose their sleep and study. Nobody wants to say anything, for fear of a quarrel.
The idea: the neighbourhood’s elders and families agree on something simple: at events, microphones and speakers run only until a set hour, at a bearable volume, and lower still in exam season. Write the agreement down and put it up on the mosque or club wall.
If someone breaks it, no quarrel; an elder of the neighbourhood reminds them politely.
