A basket of life jackets at the ferry landing

On the rivers of Barishal, children and older people are most at risk when boarding a boat. Many ferry landings do not have a single life jacket, and in a sudden gale there is nothing to be done. Talk to the boatmen and whoever manages the landing. Neighbours chip in a small amount to buy a few life jackets and hang them in a basket or on a post at the landing. Make it a rule that children wear them first. Put up a notice, no overloading, no boats in a storm. You need a few life jackets, the boatmen's consent, a basket and small contributions from neighbours.
