Choosing high ground for livestock before a cyclone
মো. মিজানুর রশিদ Desher Kaj team · 15 October 2026
On the chars, people often refuse to go to the cyclone shelter without their cattle and goats. That delays them, and the delay is what puts lives at risk. For many families the animals are all they own.
Before the storm season, the para can agree on a high spot or embankment where animals can be taken, who will lead which family's animals, and who will keep rope and straw. Split into teams so that people and animals move at the same time.
You need one high open place, a few young helpers, some rope and straw. Start by talking with the elders of the para.
