A raised box to save schoolbooks during flash floods
শম্পা দেবনাথ Desher Kaj team · 2 October 2026
When a flash flood hits the haor, water enters homes, and the first things ruined are the children's books, notebooks and school papers. Replacing them after the water goes is hard for many families.
Each family can keep a lidded plastic box or large drum, and before the monsoon put the next few months' books inside. Place it on the highest shelf or loft. The school can do the same with a large box for its important papers.
You need a few lidded containers, some plastic sheet and the teachers' support. Raise it at the guardians' meeting.
