Learning to cost home-made goods and count your own labour
দীপা সাহা Desher Kaj team · 15 October 2026
Many women make and sell tailoring, pickles or crafts at home. When setting a price they count only materials, not their own time and effort, so for all their work the real income is small.
Hold a small session with the para's women. Work out one item together: materials, fuel or thread, hours taken and a fair wage for that time. Then each woman does the sums for her own product in her notebook. They advise each other so the price sits sensibly against the market.
You need notebooks, pens and one helper who is good with figures.
