A bamboo stretcher and route list for carrying patients in the hills
অনন্যা চাকমা Desher Kaj team · 18 October 2026
Hill villages have no road, so carrying a sick person or expectant mother to hospital on shoulders eats up time, and nights are harder still.
Young men build two sturdy stretchers from bamboo and cloth and keep them in the middle of the village. On a hand-drawn map write which path from which house is shortest to the nearest health centre and where to rest. Share among villagers the names and numbers of those able to carry.
You need bamboo, cloth, rope, and a few strong volunteers.
