Splitting tasks in a char para before a storm: children and livestock
লাকি বেগম Desher Kaj team · 9 October 2026
When a storm signal comes, everyone in a char para tries to do everything at once. One takes the children, another looks for the cows, and some do nothing. Reaching the shelter late is the biggest risk.
A few households decide in advance who will hold the hands of elders and children, who will move livestock to high ground, and who will gather doors, windows and vital papers. Write the names on a paper kept in every home, and hold a light rehearsal once a year.
You need four or five neighbours, a list and a time to sit in an open space. In danger, call 999.
