A companion system for women taking a sick child to the health centre from a char
ঝুমা রায় Desher Kaj team · 3 October 2026
Many mothers in Gaibandha chars fear taking a sick child to the health centre alone. The way is long, a river must be crossed, and they get flustered over papers and questions.
A few women of the para decide who can be a companion when. Before leaving, the child's symptoms, how long ill and any medicine given are written on a paper. In an emergency, call 999.
You need the consent of four or five women, a notebook and knowledge of ferry times.
