Planting grass and trees together to protect haor-side soil
মিনতি ম্রং Desher Kaj team · 19 October 2026
In the Netrokona haor and Garo foothills, floods break the soil and eat into farmland. Without strong plants on the banks, the loss grows.
At the end of the dry season, village families together plant local grass and water-tolerant saplings on the bank. Take turns caring for them and put a temporary fence to keep livestock out. Talk with the union council and landowner before starting.
You need saplings, bamboo fencing and a day's labour.
