A practice walk to the cyclone shelter
তানিয়া সুলতানা Desher Kaj team · 18 October 2026
When a signal goes up, many people do not know which way the cyclone shelter is or how long it takes to reach. In the dark and rain, with children and elders, the way is harder still.
On a calm afternoon, walk to the shelter together. Note how long it takes and where the mud or broken stretches are. Decide who will help each elderly or disabled neighbour. If possible, mark arrows at the turns with lime or paint.
You need a coordinator, a few volunteers and a little paint. Bring in the union parishad member or the local disaster committee too.
