A resting shelter on the long school path
জয়ন্ত চাকমা Desher Kaj team · 19 October 2026
In hill areas many children walk an hour to school. Soaked by rain or sun they reach class tired, and some give up school altogether.
Make a small shelter of bamboo and thatch or tin halfway along the path. Keep a pot of drinking water beside it. The whole village can finish it in a day. Parents take turns keeping it clean.
You need bamboo, thatch or tin, rope and a few pairs of hands. Get consent from the landowner and the community head.
